Dao De Jing (Ethical Code) Chapter One      by Lao-Tze, B.C. translated by David Du

(Note: Lao-Tze is a well-known Chinese ancient philosopher whose thoughts representing Taoism)

If the Dao could use speech to express itself,

That would not a permanent Dao, If the Name could use words to name itself, That would not be an uncommon name. Namelessness is the beginning of heaven and earth. Name are the names of the mother of all the things. Therefore, Quiet hearts can subtly watch the particularities, Attentively ones can track the scent of visibility. Actually, these two kinds of things come from One. Merely they each have a different name. Both of them are mysterious. The great-great mysteriousness: That is the gate of all particularities.

Translated in Japanese by David Du
