原文： 天长地久。 天地所以能长且久者，以其不自生，故能长生。是以圣人后其身而身先，外其身而身存。以其无私，故能成其私。

白话翻译： 天长地久，天地主所以能长久存在的原因，因为它们不会着眼于自己的生存，所以他们能长久生存。因此圣人总是把自己的利益放在别人身后，把自己置之度外，这样反而能保全自身。正是因为圣人无私， 结果反而能实现自己的理想。

Daode Classics Chapter seven

Everlasting is as old as the sky and earth. Why the sky and earth are everlasting?

Because they do not seek their own existence.

So, they can keep lasting forever.

And so, the sages are not self-centered and always put their own lives and benefits behind,

which, surprisingly, to the contrary,

ends up saving their own lives.

Therefore, as the sages live by means of disregarding their own existence

They can realize their life’s goals.
